Well, last month we reported that flybuys had partnered with Aussie startup Unlockd to create an app that rewarded members with flybuys points when viewing ads in the Unlock Rewards app. What if we told you that you could put those points towards your next free holiday? Today's Money Hack will explain just how you can do that.
The hack
When you download the Unlock Rewards app, members can collect flybuys points by viewing curated ads, content or offers when they unlock their Android smartphone. As you view the ads, you’ll have the chance to earn up to 1,000 flybuys points per month. So over a year, you could earn 12,000 flybuys points just by looking at a few ads.
If you prefer travel over shopping rewards, you could also exchange these flybuys points for Velocity Points. With an exchange rate of approximately 0.43 Velocity Points per 1 flybuys point, you could get 5,160 Velocity Points from the 12,000 flybuys points you’d earned from unlocking your phone.
It would probably take a long time to redeem anything substantial using this method, but it’s an easy way to pick up some extra points for something you do everyday. Plus, as the Unlockd App is free to download and as you’re not required to spend anything to earn flybuys points, it’s also one of the few ways you can earn flybuys or Velocity Points without forking out any money
